Teresa Schaer MD, FACP
Founder & Medical Director of Signature Health Solutions
Dr. Teresa Schaer has more than 30 years of experience at hospitals across the country. After graduating from the University of California at San Diego School of Medicine, she did her residency in Internal Medicine at NYU-Bellevue Medical Center in New York City, and completed a fellowship in Geriatric Medicine at George Washington University Medical Center in Washington DC. Prior to launching Signature Health Solutions, Dr. Schaer spent 21 years as the Chief of the Division of Geriatrics at Saint Peter’s University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ.
Dr. Schaer is Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine, and she has completed extensive training in Age Management, a cutting-edge approach to preventive health care that is integral to the Signature Health Solutions philosophy. She is a frequent lecturer on topics in Geriatrics, Age Management and Medical Ethics throughout the state, and has appeared on television and radio as a medical expert on a wide range of topics.
Through her experience treating people at nearly every stage of their health and their lives, Dr. Schaer recognized an urgent need to change the paradigm of health care as we know it – offering a more comprehensive, personalized solution to health and wellness. At Signature Health Solutions, she works with people of all ages to create and implement customized plans that promote total well-being.
Julie Pantelick, DO
Dr. Julie Pantelick is a board-certified internal medicine physician. She completed her undergraduate studies at Barnard College, Columbia University, and her pre-medical coursework at Bryn Mawr College’s Post Baccalaureate Premedical Program. In 2007 she graduated from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, and in 2010 she completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Saint Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick, NJ. Following residency, Dr. Pantelick worked as a hospitalist in central Vermont at the Rutland Regional Medical Center. In 2012 she returned to New Jersey and joined the teaching faculty of the Internal Medicine Residency Program at the St. Francis Medical Center/Seton Hall University in Trenton, NJ. In January 2019, Dr. Pantelick joined Dr. Teresa Schaer and Signature Health Solutions.
With a life-long interest in nutrition and wellness, becoming part of Signature Health Solutions has proven to be a natural progression. Dr. Pantelick’s experience managing complex chronic diseases underscored the need for a different paradigm in healthcare. While conventional medicine provides the protocols needed to get patients through their acute healthcare crises, whether infections, heart and respiratory problems, uncontrolled diabetes, blood pressure, or thyroid problems, it does not provide a map or the methods for helping patients unravel the causes of their symptoms much less reverse their chronic conditions. In an effort to find a new way to help her patients gain control of their health, Dr. Pantelick began training in the functional medicine approach to illness and wellness and has found a powerful new set of tools for addressing the root causes of disease. By working with her patients to identify their individual healthcare challenges and goals, and coaching them through some fundamental lifestyle changes, Dr. Pantelick has been successful in helping her patients decrease their inflammation, improve their digestion, gain better sleep, and diminish chronic pain while simultaneously improving mood, energy and motivation.
Dr. Pantelick’s practice is patient-centered and science-based and offers a wide-range of testing to help identify the nutritional, gastrointestinal, genetic and physiologic issues that might be contributing to a person’s daily symptoms. Working with the interests of the patient, she integrates multiple treatment approaches including food and lifestyle changes, prescribes bio-identical hormone replacement, nutraceuticals, and medications, and problems solves sleep and stress management issues. Her daily goal is to help her patients reverse their conditions, prevent future healthcare problems, and to daily feel their best.
*Osteopathic Medicine and Allopathic medicine: Osteopathic physicians (D.O. = Doctor of Osteopathy) and Allopathic physicians (M.D.) are both highly trained medical professionals, similarly educated and certified. Both are licensed to practice medicine and perform surgery in all 50 states. Unlike MDs, Dos have training in manual diagnostic and treatment modalities called Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT). Additionally, osteopaths bring something extra to the practice of medicine. They practice a “whole person” approach, treating the entire individual rather than just the symptoms.
Miriam Sapeika PA-C
Miriam Sapeika has been a certified, practicing Physician Assistant for more than 15 years. After earning her Master’s degree as a Physician Assistant from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ in 2003, she began her career in Radiation Oncology and subsequently went on to join Dr. Teresa Schaer at Signature Health Solutions in 2013.
While working with Dr. Schaer, Miriam has honed her skills in primary care with an integrative approach, helping to offer comprehensive, individualized solutions to health and wellness. Her naturally caring and sensitive personality brings out the best in all who meet her as they strive to meet their health care goals.
Beyond general medical care, Miriam has developed a special interest and skill in the treatment of feminine sexual problems, more specifically, the very personal problem of vaginismus. During her time working in the field of Radiation Oncology, Miriam witnessed the effects that radiation had on women undergoing treatment, including the onset of sexual pain. Since that time, during her years of practicing in Internal Medicine, she has repeatedly encountered women with sexual pain for various reasons.
Because of this special interest, and after meeting countless patients whose suffering was not adequately addressed, Miriam advanced her education in the field of women’s sexual dysfunction. She recognized that this area of women’s medical care has been extremely limited and elusive. Through advanced certification and real-life practical application, Miriam has developed a warm, nurturing environment to treat and care for women’s sexual problems.
Miriam’s “Soft Touch Health Solutions” is a specialized service offered at Signature Health Solutions and to date, many women who have been previously unsuccessful in their search for help, have turned to Miriam and achieved the cure they had hoped for. Her unique care is provided with the support of her collaborating physician, Dr. Teresa Schaer.
