Dr. Teresa Schaer has more than 30 years of experience at hospitals across the country. After graduating from the University of California at San Diego School of Medicine, she did her residency in Internal Medicine at NYU-Bellevue Medical Center in New York City, and completed a fellowship in Geriatric Medicine at George Washington University Medical Center in Washington DC. Prior to launching Signature Health Solutions, Dr. Schaer spent 21 years as the Chief of the Division of Geriatrics at Saint Peter’s University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ.

Dr. Schaer is Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine, and she has completed extensive training in Age Management, a cutting-edge approach to preventive health care that is integral to the Signature Health Solutions philosophy. She is a frequent lecturer on topics in Geriatrics, Age Management and Medical Ethics throughout the state, and has appeared on television and radio as a medical expert on a wide range of topics.

Through her experience treating people at nearly every stage of their health and their lives, Dr. Schaer recognized an urgent need to change the paradigm of health care as we know it – offering a more comprehensive, personalized solution to health and wellness. At Signature Health Solutions, she works with people of all ages to create and implement customized plans that promote total well-being.

Dr PantelickJulie Pantelick, DO, FACP

Dr. Julie Pantelick is a graduate of Barnard College, Columbia University in New York. After working in film and television production for over 10 years, she attended the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine* in Philadelphia, followed by a residency in Internal Medicine at Saint Peter’s University Hospital, in New Brunswick, NJ, where she first met and was mentored by Dr. Schaer. After completing her residency in 2010, Dr. Pantelick worked as a hospitalist in Central Vermont until 2012. She then returned to New Jersey to join the St. Francis Medical Center Residency Program in Trenton, where she has been teaching new physicians about evidence-based medicine and patient-centered care. Dr. Pantelick is board certified in Internal Medicine. She will soon be named a Fellow in the American College of Physicians.

While managing multiple complex chronic and acute diseases, it became clear to Dr. Pantelick that she was not satisfied with addressing problems using solely pharmaceutical approaches that merely control symptoms. She wanted to transform her practice of medicine into one that is more in line with the goals of functional and integrative medicine, to help patients reverse their chronic diseases or prevent them from occurring in the first place.

Dr. Pantelick is a caring, concerned physician who is deeply interested in patient-centered, science-based approaches to promoting wellness and reversing chronic disease, integrating this care into traditional approaches. Dr. Pantelick’s goal is to individualize care according to each patient’s unique genetic, biochemical and lifestyle factors. Through integrative medical approaches including diet and lifestyle changes, bioidentical hormone replacement and careful attention to digestion issues, Dr. Pantelick’s goal is to go beyond medication protocols and help patients build wellness by making lasting lifestyle changes. Her philosophy and goals align well with those of Signature Health Solutions.

*Osteopathic medicine and Allopathic medicine:
Osteopathic physicians (D.O. = Doctor of Osteopathy) and Allopathic physicians (M.D.) are both highly trained medical professionals, similarly educated and certified. Both are licensed to practice medicine and perform surgery in all 50 states. Unlike MDs, Dos have training in manual diagnostic and treatment modalities called Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT). Additionally, osteopaths bring something extra to the practice of medicine. They practice a “whole person” approach, treating the entire individual rather than just the symptoms.

Dr SapeikaMiriam Sapeika PA-C

Miriam Sapeika has been a certified, practicing Physician Assistant for more than 15 years. After earning her Master’s degree as a Physician Assistant from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ in 2003, she began her career in Radiation Oncology and subsequently went on to join Dr. Teresa Schaer at Signature Health Solutions in 2013.

While working with Dr. Schaer, Miriam has honed her skills in primary care with an integrative approach, helping to offer comprehensive, individualized solutions to health and wellness. Her naturally caring and sensitive personality brings out the best in all who meet her as they strive to meet their health care goals.

Beyond general medical care, Miriam has developed a special interest and skill in the treatment of feminine sexual problems, more specifically, the very personal problem of vaginismus. During her time working in the field of Radiation Oncology, Miriam witnessed the effects that radiation had on women undergoing treatment, including the onset of sexual pain. Since that time, during her years of practicing in Internal Medicine, she has repeatedly encountered women with sexual pain for various reasons.

Because of this special interest, and after meeting countless patients whose suffering was not adequately addressed, Miriam advanced her education in the field of women’s sexual dysfunction. She recognized that this area of women’s medical care has been extremely limited and elusive. Through advanced certification and real-life practical application, Miriam has developed a warm, nurturing environment to treat and care for women’s sexual problems.

Miriam’s “Soft Touch Health Solutions” is a specialized service offered at Signature Health Solutions and to date, many women who have been previously unsuccessful in their search for help, have turned to Miriam and achieved the cure they had hoped for. Her unique care is provided with the support of her collaborating physician, Dr. Teresa Schaer.
